
Nagabhusan Senapati
Nagabhusan was born to Sri Ramaswamy Senapati and Smt Manikya Devi as their eldest son. His ancestral village is in Kalahandi District in Orissa, tucked in the mountains of western Orissa. His early education was in Bhawanipatna, the district headquarters of Kalahandi. His father Sri Ramaswamy Senapati served as a teacher and was promoted to be the District Inspector of School at Cuttack. He was a religious man known for his integrity and for his support in curriculum reform in post-independence India.

Bhawanipatna
Bhawanipatna is a town in the interior Orissa, about thre hundred miles south west from Bhubaneswar. It is reached by overnight public bus transport. The area is known for its neolithic signatures and old tribal population known for its independence and hard industry.

Nagabhusan 1967
Nagabusan did a site visit in Orissa with his brother Gangadhar and friend Kanti Jain. His threee sisters joined. This is a picture from the old Kanarka Sun Temple. Nagabhusan in extreme left in front (without glasses). His brother is in the middle.

Manikeswari Temple
Manikeswari Temple of Bhawanipatna is one of the principal Shakti temples in Odisha. The name "Manika" believed to be connected to ruby, connecting the area to have mines of ruby. The temple rituals are mostly tantric and are associated with martial dance and revelry.

Nagabhusan 1979
Nagabhusan's first daughter was born in Boston in 1977. His parents and the youngest brother paid hism a visit in 1979. In this picture we have his parents, the youngest brother, his wife Rajakumari and the baby Sangeeta.
