Ravenshaw Collegiate School is the oldest High School in Odisha,
established in 1851. Many well-known personaities of Orissa have been educated through the school. A statue of Nataji Subhas Chandra Bose graces the front courtyard lately.
Nagabhusan attended the Collegiate school from 1955 to 1962. Besides his studies, he initiated the activity of School Science Club in 1960 with the help of the Science teacher late Sri Debendranath Kar. The organizer of this memorial site, a year junior to him, met him through the Science Club activities spending countless hours after school in setting up experiments using everyday objects.
Nagabhusan was a quiet student. They had healthy competition in
the class. Late Dr Rabindranath Rath fondly remembered their early age chess games. Apparently Nagabhusan knew all the chess moves and taught others. Dr Rath also passed away out in 2014 through sickness.
Nagabhusan qualified to be admitted to the Indian Institute of Technology through their all-India entrance examination. He joined the institution at Kharagpur in the summer of 1962.
