Reminiscences from Boston

 

Nagabhusan lived in Boston from 1970 February through 1977 June.  Manmohan Subudhi roomed with him at Ashdown House, MIT. Boston area was the hub of Orissa affairs. Nagabhusan served as the first Secretary/Treasurer of the newly formed Orissa Society of the Americas.  Dr. Gauri Charan Das, then a post-doctoral Fellow at MIT was the first President.  Among the people of Oriya descent who lived in Boston in the early 1970's were Mr. Prasanna K Samantarai, Mr. Bidyut Rath, Mr. Nityananda Misra and Ms. Kabita Lombard. Dr Jogeshwar Rath, Mr. Chandrasekhar Mohanty and Mr. Dhiraj Pradhan resided in Providence, Rhode Island.  Mr. Prafulla K Padhy and Mr. Bijoy M Misra came to MIT in 1974.  Sri Debdendra Das came to University of Rhode Island around the same time.  The friends got together most weekends and had frequent cookouts.  It was a period of jolly friendship.
